Mauritius Investor Occupation Permit

The Investor Occupation Permit is the main residency pathway for entrepreneurs and business owners moving to Mauritius. A USD 50,000 investment in a qualifying Mauritian company unlocks a 10 year residency permit for the investor, spouse and dependent children, with a clear pathway to permanent residency after three years.

Investment and financial requirements

The minimum equity investment is USD 50,000, paid into the bank account of the Mauritian company you incorporate or acquire. The company must generate annual turnover of at least MUR 4 million in year one, MUR 5 million in year two, and MUR 12 million from year three onwards. The investor draws a salary from the company.

  • USD 50,000 equity investment in Mauritian company
  • Year 1 turnover target - MUR 4 million
  • Year 2 turnover target - MUR 5 million
  • Year 3 onwards turnover target - MUR 12 million
  • 10 year permit, renewable based on performance

Eligible business activities

Most lawful business activities qualify - consulting, professional services, technology, e-commerce, manufacturing, hospitality and trade. Some sectors (financial services, telecoms, sugar, large-scale property) require additional sector-specific licences.

Pathway to permanent residency

After three years of holding the Investor Occupation Permit and meeting turnover targets, you can apply for a 20 year permanent residency permit. This decouples residency from the company's ongoing performance.
